ScotShot LLC - NRA Basic Rifle.
This is a National Rifle Association accredited and certificated course.

WHAT THIS COURSE IS FOR
This is the NRA's beginner Rifle Class. Its purpose is to develop a safety mindset, familiarity with rifles, and introduce basic elements of rifle marksmanship. Certificates will be issued to successful participants. Instructor candidates need to pass the class at 90% or better, and attain a straightforward shooting standard.

WHAT THIS COURSE CONTAINS
NRA Basic Rifle is a one-day class, and includes classroom and range time. The class begins with a discussion of the three rules of safe gun handling. Then, we review of the parts and function of a rifle, and compare the similarities and differences across a range of rifle action types. We discuss the components and function of ammunition, and how to ensure that the correct ammunition is being used. We continue with the fundamentals of shooting a rifle and an examination of the bench-rest shooting position and the free-standing shooting position. After a range-safety briefing, we go onto the range and shoot. The class concludes with a brief open-book exam, a discussion of how to clean and store rifles, and how to work to develop your marksmanship skills.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
This is a beginner-level course, suitable for people who may never have handled or shot a rifle. It is suitable for people with no training or only a little. You can take this course in advance of obtaining your own rifle; in fact, it may help you decide on what you like and dislike. It can be taken by adults and supervised older children, and we encourage parents and children over 14 to take the course together. If you have one, you should bring your own rifle. However, all necessary firearms and ammunition are provided, so all you need to bring is a willingness to learn and the desire to succeed, and a light lunch.

WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY
We provide all training materials, firearms, non-firing demonstration ammunition, classroom facilities, coffee, and snacks. At the end of the course, we issue the NRA Certificate of Participation. Most of all, you'll take away a great experience, a working knowledge of rifles and rifle shooting in general, how to transport them legally in New Jersey how to handle and store them safely in your home.
